Are You On the Saints Hype Train Yet?
Last week everyone said yeah the Saints looked good and scored 47 points but it was the Panthers. This week what do they have to say? They scored 44 points against a much more respectable team. Combining these two games the Saints scored points on their first 15 drives of the season. Meaning their punter did not see the field for the first game and a half. Derek Carr only threw the ball 16 times this game but it was enough for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Alvin Kamara also did Alvin Kamara-like things with four touchdowns, three on the ground and one through the air. This week they will host the Eagles and with the way Philly’s defense looked in the second half against Kirk Cousins and the Falcons Monday night, this may be another 40-bomb for the Saints.
Are the Packers Okay Without Love or Are the Colts a Bad Team?
Malik Willis relieved Love getting the start against the Colts and did just fine throwing 12/14 for 122 yards and a TD. This game was primarily won by the defense and Josh Jacobs. Jacobs had more than double the amount of carries than Willis had passing attempts. This was enough for 151 yards for Jacobs and 261 total rushing yards as a team. However, all of this was only good for 16 points. Their defense is bailed out their offense in this game stealing three interceptions from Anthony Richardson. As a Colts fan I would start to worry. And as the Colts I would consider starting backup quarterback Joe Flacco after what he was able to do in Cleveland last year. Richardson has now turned the ball over four times with only three touchdowns to make up for it. This is even more essential when the defense is on the field for over 40 minutes like they were against the Packers. Fortunately for the Packers they have the Titans this week, another game that they can win with Malik Willis under center. The Colts have a very winnable game against the Bears, but the Bears have been playing well defensively so Richardson is going to have to make smarter decisions. If they proceed to lose this game, I would worry for the Colts.
Should there be a panic in Baltimore?
The Ravens dropping this game was a mystery. They were the 8.5-point favorites and for good reason. The Ravens just let the Raiders stick around in this game. They led the whole game up until about 30 seconds left. With every score the Raiders had an answer. A defense that was getting a lot of attention coming into the season is now dead last in pass yards allowed with 514 through two games, also giving up 26.5 points per game. The offense still looks good Lamar had another good day with 247 yards passing and another 45 with his legs. This team just needs to find ways to win games which I think they can start to do so starting this week in Dallas with some defensive adjustments.
