The Bills travel to Hard Rock Stadium in a game featuring two week 1 winners. The Dolphins are coming off a comeback-style win against the Jaguars. Jason Sanders hit a 52-yard field in the final seconds to give Miami the 20-17 win. The Bills also played catchup for most of their week 1 matchup. They fell behind 17-3 in the second quarter but scored 21 unanswered to take control of the game and eventually win 34-28.
Both teams may have expected more in their first game just due to who their week 1 matchups were. Beating the Jaguars by three and the Cardinals by six is a little underwhelming for the front runners of the AFC East. Maybe this is not a big issue, but without Stephon Diggs, they do not have a go-to guy in tight games.
Josh Allen looked as good as always minus the turnovers this time threw 232 yards and two touchdowns with only 23 pass attempts. A big concern for the Bills this year was the wide receiver core. While the air game did not look bad for the Bills, there was not standouts catching the ball. Leading receiver was Keon Coleman with four receptions for 51 yards.
Tua also had a better day than the 20 points showed for. The current league leader in passing yards recorded 338 in 37 attempts tacking on a touchdown pass. This is with help from another great week 1 performance from Tyreek Hill who had seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Waddle also contributed five catches surpassing 100 yards with 109 and running back De’Von Achane with 76 more although he is listed as a game time decision in tonight’s game.
We are fortunate to have back-to-back highly anticipated games on Thursday night as Prime makes its season debut streaming the game. The fact that this game is in Miami is a big difference maker. The Dolphins having to travel to Buffalo this early in the season would be tough. However, I do not think the home-field advantage would be enough for the Dolphins because they struggle in big games.
